FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cedar Park “Keen On Clean” Citywide Cleanup / Call for Volunteers

The City of Cedar Park’s “Keen on Clean” annual citywide cleanup event for 2007 has expanded and is one of many great events held nationwide from March through May as a part of the Great American Cleanup, sponsored by Keep America Beautiful. Scheduled for Saturday, April 14, the Citywide Cleanup, which also coincides with the statewide Keep Texas Beautiful"Trash-Off" is designed to beautify Cedar Park and surrounding areas by reducing the amount of litter throughout the community and by giving residents the opportunity to dispose of large, bulky items. This year, for the first time, Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) will also be collected.

TheCitywide Cleanup event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and stagedat the Austin Community Collegeparking lot at 1555 Cypress Creek Road. City of Cedar Park Municipal Utilities customers may drop off refuse, which may include appliances (any containing refrigerant must be drained and tagged by a licensed technician), construction materials, and HHW. Products such as paints, cleaners, oils, batteries, and pesticides are considered HHW and must be specially handled upon disposal. This is the first year Cedar Park has been able to offer HHW disposal services at its citywide cleanup day.

Cedar Park's Keen on Clean event is a perfect opportunity for local civic, school or church groups, or anyone who wants to help clean up the city! Due to the nature of work required, all volunteers must be at least 18 years old. All volunteers will also be able to register for events, enjoy refreshments, and meet other volunteers. Supplies will also be made available for anyone desiring to clean the park, neighborhood, or street of their choice. To volunteer for the City of Cedar Park City-wide Clean-up Event or for other volunteer opportunities call Cedar Park Code Enforcement at (512) 401-5200, Utilities Billing at (512) 401-5310, or visit www.cedarparktx.us/cp/ub_clean.aspx

This event is provided at no cost to public on behalf of our sponsors: Austin Community College, Austin Wood Recycling, Central Texas Secure Shredding, Hill Country News, IESI, Keep Texas Beautiful, Lower Colorado River Authority, Minuteman Press, and the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality.
