Recycle Your Christmas Tree!
The City of Cedar Park will host the Annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program on January 3, 2009. Residents are invited to bring their trees, with all decorations, ornaments and stands removed, between the hours of 9:00 am and noon to the Cedar Park City Hall, located at 600 N. Bell Blvd.
Recycling real Christmas trees is an important way to help the environment. Nationally yard clippings and other organic materials, such as Christmas trees, make up to 20 percent of material buried in landfills. By recycling Christmas trees, residents can help reduce the material in landfills and give holiday trees a second life.
All Christmas trees collected will be sent through a chipper and turned into mulch. That mulch will be used to add beauty, soil water retention and a wonderful scent to city landscapes. In exchange for bringing a tree to be recycled, residents will receive a free tree seedling while supplies last.
