Our goal is to do our part in conserving resources such as water and energy, and to help you do your part too! WHY IS RECYCLING IMPORTANT?
Because reducing waste…
• Saves natural resources
• Saves energy and reduces pollution
• Saves our landfills space
• Creates jobs
REUSING IS IMPORTANT!
Don’t forget that you can also donate, sell or exchange materials that are in good condition.
COMPOSTING INFORMATION
Composting is nature’s way of recycling. It’s a great way to recycle food and yard waste into valuable garden soil and save money on fertilizing and watering. For example, cut grass can be left on the lawn - it’s a good source of nitrogen and is a great natural fertilizer.
HOUSEHOLD HARZARDOUS WASTE
Many left over items commonly used in the home such as paint, cleaning fluids, pesticides, lighter fluid, car batteries, motor oil and filters all contain toxic chemicals that are harmful t o the environment and therefore become household hazardous waste (HHW). It’s important that these chemicals are not disposed of in your trash container, washed down the drain or poured onto the ground or in street drainage... Labels on the products should not be removed if at all possible and the product should not be removed from the original container. In addition, electronic devices such as computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, cell phones, pagers, TVs and VCR.s which contain materials such as lead and mercury, end up unnecessarily polluting the earth in landfills each year. Broken or unwanted electronic equipment can be reused or recycled.
