PLACE 3 - SCOTT MITCHELL

place3@cedarparktx.us

Scott Mitchell was born in Rockford, Illinois and has lived in Cedar Park for 14 years. After graduating from Llano High School in 1969 he went on to complete a Commercial Diver’s School in Houston. He joined the Navy in 1973 and was honorably discharged as a Petty Officer 2nd Class Machinist and 2nd Class (Salvage) diver in 1977.

With the advent of the computer generation, he attended and graduated from Southwest School of Electronics and went to work in the computer industry in 1981. Working as a hardware technician he advanced to Service Manager at Unico, Inc. and continued to learn as IBMs’ PC’s came on the scene during the mid 1980’s. As he moved on to other jobs in related fields, computers still remained his focus. He took on the task of learning and becoming a network administrator in the late 1980’s and continued through the late 1990’s, providing Server, Desk Side, and telephone support in various small companies. In 1999 he joined the team at Tivoli Systems, Inc. as a software verification engineer.

As his campaign slogan states, he will come to council meetings with “A different angle – common sense” type attitude as he works with the City Council on local and regional traffic concerns. He would also like to expand, improve and enhance our parks and sports programs; increase the ratio of police officers to citizens; expand and upgrade our fire departments; promote economic development by encouraging entertainment and dining business to come to Cedar Park; and increase sales tax revenue while lowering property taxes.

Scott has been married to his wife Debbie for over 25 years and they have two children: Kristin and Matt. His hobbies include karate, early morning Navy Seal Conditioning Course workouts at Zilker Park and golf.
