On Saturday, September 12, the Texas Cave Conservancy hosted CAVE DAY. Despite approximately six inches of rain her in Cedar Park, over 180 visitors attended the event. Most of the visitors choose not to hike the trails due to the rain. The Dies Ranch Treasure Cave was the hit of the day. In addition to viewing the cave they were treated to a rope climbing demonstration by Alexa Ewen. The rains created a number of underground waterfalls that added to the experience. In addition, caver Bill Larson portrayed the outlaw Sam Bass. He shared some his gold coin treasure with some of the younger visitors. Even thought the coins were plastic they were seen as treasures by the young explorers. Jeanette Larson assisted in the cave visitation. Over at the Avery Ranch Cave, Curtis Bullard and Scott Coppocktook visitors under ground to see the beautiful cave formations. The next CAVE DAY will be in mid Aprilof 2010.
